Plant Tissue Culture

In recent decades, plant tissue culture technology in controlled environments, has been one of the new methods for the propagation of many plants specially the ones propagated by means of vegetative method. Currently, this technology is used for the propagation of flowers and ornamental plants, medicinal plants, worthy trees and shrubs in wide industrial scale. Noticing the importance of the subject and the necessity of the application of this technology in plants propagation (specially ornamental plants) and assisting the industrialization of their propagation procedures, the Plant Tissue Culture and Proliferation Technology Research Group has been established with the aim of enabling the propagation of ornamental plants to be offered to producers and green house keepers and also for producing plant secondary metabolites.

Features:

·         Uniformity of propagated plantlets

·         No fungus, bacterial or virus disease infection in produced plantlets

·         Ability to rapidly propagate samples and produce many similar plants

·         Ability to propagate regardless of environmental conditions

·         Continuous production and propagation of plants during the year

·         Production of plant secondary metabolites in controlled conditions

 Applications:

·         Application of the propagated plantlets for producing cut flower plants

·         Application of the propagated plantlets as apartment ornamental plants

·         Application of plant secondary metabolites in medical industry

 Capabilities:

·     Propagation of cut flower plants such as Gerbera jamesonii, Anthurium andraeanum and Dianthus caryophyllus

·         Propagation of ornamental plants such as Begonia sp, Saintpaulia ionantha and Kalanchoe blossfeldiana

Some Performed Projects and Researches:

·  Compilation of technology for propagation of some important flowers and ornamental plants at in vitro conditions

Clients:

·         Producers and growers of flowers and ornamental plants
